Acceptable Use Policy
This policy outlines the rules governing the use of Zimly's eSIM data connectivity services to ensure a safe, fair, and lawful experience for all customers.
1. Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of Zimly's eSIM services and forms part of our Terms of Service. By using our service, you agree to comply with this policy.
This policy exists to protect the quality and integrity of the network for all Zimly customers, and to ensure compliance with UK law and the regulations of the countries where our eSIM plans provide coverage.
2. Permitted Use
Zimly eSIM plans are designed for personal, lawful use. Permitted uses include:
- Web browsing, email, and messaging while travelling.
- Streaming music and video for personal consumption.
- Using maps, navigation, and travel applications.
- Video and voice calls via internet-based applications.
- Downloading files and applications for personal use.
- Remote work activities (email, collaboration tools, VPN for work purposes).
3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited when using Zimly's services:
Unlawful Activity
- Any activity that violates UK law or the laws of the country where you are using the service.
- Accessing, distributing, or storing illegal content of any kind.
- Using the service to facilitate fraud, identity theft, or financial crime.
- Sending unsolicited bulk communications (spam).
Commercial Misuse
- Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially redistributing your data connection.
- Using the eSIM in a commercial device (e.g., IoT gateways, commercial routers) unless explicitly authorised.
- Operating servers, hosting services, or peer-to-peer file-sharing nodes.
Network Abuse
- Attempting to bypass, circumvent, or manipulate data usage tracking or plan limits.
- Using automated tools or scripts to generate excessive, artificial, or abusive data traffic.
- Engaging in denial-of-service attacks or any activity that degrades network quality.
- Intercepting or monitoring data not intended for you.
- Cloning, duplicating, or tampering with eSIM profiles.
Harmful Content
- Distributing malware, viruses, ransomware, or other harmful software.
- Engaging in phishing or social engineering attacks.
- Harassing, threatening, or abusing other individuals.
4. Fair Usage
All Zimly plans are subject to fair usage principles. While each plan specifies a data allowance, we expect usage to reflect normal personal consumption patterns.
Activities that may trigger fair usage review include:
- Consistently consuming data at or near the maximum throughput of the connection 24/7.
- Tethering or hotspot usage that results in data consumption significantly exceeding normal personal use.
- Usage patterns consistent with automated or non-human traffic.
If your usage triggers a fair usage review, we will contact you before taking any action. In exceptional cases, we may temporarily reduce speeds (throttle) to ensure fair access for all customers on the network.
5. Network Security
You must not attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Zimly's systems or network, or breach any security or authentication measures. You must not attempt to access data, accounts, or systems that you are not authorised to access.
If you discover a security vulnerability, we ask that you report it responsibly to security@zimly.co.uk rather than exploiting it.
6. Enforcement & Consequences
Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in one or more of the following actions, at Zimly's discretion:
- Warning: A formal notification of the violation with a request to cease the activity.
- Throttling: Temporary reduction of connection speeds.
- Suspension: Temporary suspension of your eSIM plan or account.
- Termination: Permanent termination of your account without refund.
- Legal action: Referral to law enforcement or initiation of civil proceedings where appropriate.
The severity of the response will depend on the nature and severity of the violation. Where possible, we will provide notice before taking action, unless immediate action is necessary to protect the network or comply with law.
7. Reporting Abuse
If you become aware of any misuse of Zimly's services, or if you are affected by abuse originating from our network, please report it to:

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
